Coín brings the art of women from Coin to local businesses for International Women's Day

'Mujeres con Arte' is the title of this exhibition that the City Council together with the women's associations of the city that brings together nine women artists, mostly anonymous, to make visible art and the role of women from Coin in the different disciplines artistic.

The Coín Women's Information Center makes a balance of more than 500 women attended during the past year 2022.

In Coín there is a lot of art and in it the women of Coín have a lot to say. That is why the City Council of the town together with the women's associations of the municipality have launched the exhibition 'Mujeres con Arte', to make visible the role of women from Coin in the different artistic disciplines. The mayor of the city, Francisco Santos, inaugurated it together with the Councilor for Equality, Belén González, and representatives of the women's associations Amatista, María Cambrils and Aferum. "Today there are nine women who are the protagonists and those who generally represent women from Coin to continue working and making visible the real equality between men and women that we defend from all areas of our city," explained the councilor from Coin, who highlighted the progress made so that women "can achieve everything they set out to do without obstacles", which is the true final objective: "to achieve real and effective equality because in this way we will have a fairer, more egalitarian and healthier society".

With the inauguration of this artistic exhibition, this March 8 has been commemorated, International Women's Day, in which, in addition, the facade of the City Hall will remain illuminated in purple during this night. 'Mujeres con Arte' is an exhibition that makes visible the art and work of nine coína women such as: Sara Urbano Santos, Mari Carmen Lomeña Villalobos, María Núñez González, María Romero López, Jéssica Chaves Valdivia, Esperanza Moreno Ruiz, Laura González Domínguez , Mari Angeles Moreno Serrano and Mari Carmen Jiménez Jiménez. "She is our nine women protagonists of this month of March who are going to help us make visible the role of women in our society thanks to their artistic expressions through painting, ceramics or photography, among other disciplines", has assured the person in charge of Equality. The shops that have this exhibition of works from Coín are, respectively: Yadira Balbuena Studio, Yolanda Haberdashery, Curro Fabrics and Confections, Rosa Hairdresser, Bambi Fashions, La Fuensanta Confectionery, Meraki Center, Federópticos Coín and Íntima Accessories.

This exhibition has been taken, specifically, to the windows of these local businesses. "This is a great initiative because we are showing the commitment not only of the women's associations or of this Town Hall, but that of the entire town of Coín who, like its businesses, have turned to the project, making it possible and contributing to making it a great success for which we all win", remarked the mayor of Coin, for which he wanted to congratulate the work of the Equality Area as a whole, as well as the participating women's associations.

Balance of the Women's Center
On the other hand, on the occasion of this International Women's Day, the Councilor for Women and Equality, Belén González, wanted to take stock of the City Council's measures and actions in this area, as well as the work carried out through the Center for Information to the Woman of Coín. And it is that during the past 2022 this center, which offers legal, administrative and psychological care to all women who need it, served more than 500 women from the municipality. "This is very important information that shows the need to maintain this service and it comforts us to know that we are making this service available to so many women who need it to improve their day-to-day life, for which we are very satisfied," said González.

On the other hand, both the mayor and the councilor for the branch have highlighted the importance of education and the collaboration of educational centers to continue fighting to achieve real and effective equality in society. "We must all be committed to equality, but the fundamental thing lies in teaching, where we are educating the future of our city, and where all the educational centers in Coín are doing an immense job in which in many cases we collaborate from this City Council", has explained Francisco Santos. Some of these activities are the different co-educational workshops, the Coín Educational-Preventive Days, the installation of literary Violet Points in all the centers or the preparation of the family guide against gender violence to avoid behaviors that threaten equality between men. and women, among other activities.
