Coín celebrates International Women's Day with a complete calendar of activities during this month of March
The activities proposed by the City Council of Coín to celebrate International Women's Day combine workshops on self-defense, health and the menstrual cycle, theatre, exhibitions, prizes, talks and colloquiums.
The City Council of Coín, through its Women and Equality Area, has presented the calendar of activities to commemorate 8M, International Women's Day, where it combines awareness workshops, as well as recognitions and presentations given by professionals in the field. The mayor of the city, Francisco Santos, together with the councilor for the area, Belén González, have described the different activities programmed in collaboration with women's associations such as Amatista, María Cambrils or Aferum. Although part of the program, such as some workshops, have already begun, the main activity will take place next Wednesday, March 8, when the exhibition 'Mujeres con Arte' will be inaugurated, an exhibition of different artistic disciplines by Coín women in local shops. "We must defend and promote real and effective equality between men and women during the 365 days of the year, it is what we do and work on behalf of this City Council and that we reinforce during this very special and significant month for the fight", explained the coineño councilor.
The program, made up of different activities such as colloquiums, talks, training, workshops and awards, has a main activity proposed by the Coin City Council: the 'Women with Art' project. Belén González has reported that this exhibition will begin in the press room of the Consistory and later a tour of the participating local businesses will take place. "It is the star project of this year's programming, where we join from the City Council to the associative and business fabric to make visible the art of the women of our municipality," said the mayor of Equality. For his part, the mayor of Coín wanted to thank the work carried out by the Equality Area throughout the year, through its councilor in charge, as well as the area's technicians and the women's associations with which this program of joint way. "Together is how we have to organize this type of programming, since together is how we have to defend these values, as is the case with real equality," Santos defended.
The first activity begins on February 24 with a self-defense workshop for high school students of the I.E.S. Los Montecillos, followed on March 7 with the awards ceremony of the II Drawing Contest "My preferred rural woman" by the AFERUM Association, at the Faculty of Educational Sciences in Malaga. Three workshops on health and the menstrual cycle will be active during the month of March in the Associations Building (Old Carazony College) carried out by a local company in which prior registration will be necessary to participate. The theater will also have a place in these activities on March 10 with "Ellas de oro", by La Líquida. A work aimed at both the student public in a didactic session in the morning, as well as another session for adults at 8:00 p.m.
Other important initiatives will take place on March 22. In the first place, a colloquium talk by the María Cambrils Association on "The infinite women in history: La Jimena" in the Department of Youth, and the recognition of the Provincial Council of Malaga "Recognised 2023" which this year will be based in Casabermeja , where the work of María de Mar Cerrillo, a Chemical Engineer and a young resident of Coín, will be revealed. The musical touch will give the finishing touch to this calendar of activities with the Coeducational Workshop of Cadigenia "Iguala-Rock" for the primary students of the C.E.I.P. Carazony. During these days, more detailed information will be offered on each of the activities through the municipal website and the council's social networks.
