Energy Efficiency and Sustainability

From the City Council of Coín, through the Environment Area, the project and implementation of facilities and measures aimed at reducing the carbon footprint to fight against climate change, making Coín a more sustainable city, actions framed within the objectives and guidelines defined by the Spanish Network of Cities for the Climate and the Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy, organizations whose purpose is to help local entities to slow down and adapt to climate change. Energy optimization projects cover different actions that are carried out in the municipality, such as:

  • Replace high-consumption luminaires with LED devices both in equipment for public lighting as in public buildings and educational centers.
  • Provide the different spaces and sports facilities with solar panels for sanitary hot water, as well as photovoltaic panels to generate electricity and reduce the energy consumption of these units
  • Promote sustainable means of transport to avoid the emission of gases into the atmosphere through the acquisition of electric vehicles for the mobility of municipal services and the installation of charging points for electric vehicles in public spaces.
  • Replace high-consumption equipment (air conditioners, boilers, etc.) with other more energy efficient ones.
